The 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup is on! From May, 20th to June, 11th the best young teams from all over the world will compete in Republic of Korea to win one of the most prestigious FIFA tournament.
According to StarTimes Marketing Manager Felix Awino, All Knock out Matches for the U-20 World Cup will be broadcasted live on all StarTimes sports channels, including two High Definition channels namely Sports Premium and World Premium. The show will be intense, between a host country which wants to prove it belongs to the great nations of football and the favorites, France and Argentina, which want to show that they are worth as much as their elders.”
He added that, Africa’s teams will be led by Zambia. In the month of March, for the first time in history, Zambia won the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. “Zambia made history in Africa and could soon make world history. But the Chipolopolo will first have to beat Portugal, Iran and Costa Rica”
Football fans will be watching every match through the StarTimes platform trying to find the future football stars. It was during U-20 World Cup that Maradona, Messi or recently Pogba were discovered. World football new talents will all be there, eager to make a name for themselves and to enter the legendary world.
The unlucky finalist of the CAF U-20, Senegal, wants to get revenge after failing to win the African title. “Senegal has much to prove. The young Lions finished 4th of the last U-20 World Cup in New Zealand and they failed in CAF U-20 finale. They are hungry for a title.”
South Africa, which reached CAF semi-finals, will also have a hard time, between Uruguay, Italy and Japan. But its star player, Luther Singh, is confident. “We’re going to have a good squad, boasting the best we have in South Africa. We’ll be fighting for the country.”
Guinea will have the honor to open the tournament against the host, South Korea. The Guineans will have to surpass themselves if they want to get qualified in a group already called the “Group of Death”, along England and Argentina. “Argentina is one of the teams to beat and England can always surprise. Not to mention South Korea, who do not plan to finish empty-handed at home.”
“Defending champions, Serbia, failed to pass the qualifying phase, and that will add uncertainty to the tournament. Each country sees that as an opportunity. Especially Vietnam, which could be this year’s dark horse. Vietnamese team showed a great potential.”
StarTimes will broadcast all FIFA tournaments in 2017-2018, including Russia 2018 World Cup. And this summer, StarTimes will be the exclusive broadcaster of ICC tournament for Sub-Saharan Africa.
