FIRST WINNERS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE
COMPETITION’S INTERNATIONAL ROUND IN INDIA
This year 4 winners of AppStar competition awarded cash prizes at handover ceremony held today at Vodacom offices.
Two of them will also won an all-expenses-paid trip to India to take part in the International Round of the competition .
Winners awarded are Roman Mbwasi, the first winner in established Application developer category who awarded 2m/- and paid trip to India. Another winner in this category is Athuman Mahiza who awarded 1m/-.
In starting developer category winners are George Machibya who awarded 1m/- and paid trip to India.
Another winner in this category is Ilakoze Jumanne who awarded 1m/-.
Vodacom’s
External Relations Manager, Abigail Ambweni thanks all participants in
the competition and said that
innovations such as these will benefit not just the developers but
users of the applications as well. “As leaders in information and
communication technology, Vodacom is committed to develop the industry
using platforms such as this competition to bring out
talent and create access to solutions provided by these technologies to
many.”
Winners praised Vodacom for launching this platform that aims at growing talent and recommended not limiting
the competition to only mobile applications but expand it to include innovation for all computer uses.
Roman Mbwasi said he believe that his app on Traffic updates has all the criteria to win the international round
too and George Machibya also said he is ready to compete in international level by his app on markets information’s. 1st prize winners in international competition will attend the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
Since the launch of the competition in 2012, the platform has attracted an increasing number of innovators.
This year, innovators from Tanzania, South Africa, Egypt, Kenya, Ghana and India participated in the competition.
