He is also the director of Nantea, an innovative dance company whose incredible live shows are putting contemporary dance on the map in Tanzania and abroad.   He began his dance career in 2008 after being inspired by a Michael Jackson video his brother brought home. He went on to graduate from the MuDa Africa dance school and now dedicates his time to Nantea where he teaches contemporary dance, traditional dance, yoga to adults and children alike and directs shows for in his company.  His work with Nantea combines performance art and traditional african dance style with the light, graceful movements that contemporary dance demands. In its short existence, Nantea Dance Company has toured China, Madagascar, Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda, where they have performed and taken part in several artistic exchanges.   He has recently been invited by the Black Box Dance Company in Denmark to do a three month intensive dance internship with their company.    Email info@nafasiartspace.org to sign up for his dance or yoga classes Tadhi Alawi Showreel   Events   After the success of the I AM MAKEKE: A Fashion Event comes a panel discussion about Fashion in Tanzania, this evening right here at Nafasi Art Space from 4-6 pm. Guests will include the National Arts Council, the Art department of the University of Dar es Salaam, TAVA,  Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports and more. Karibu sana! In 1979, Civil Rights Activist and Writer James Baldwin wrote a letter to his literary agent describing his next project, "Remember This House." The book was to be a revolutionary, personal account of the lives and assassinations of three of his close friends: Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. At the time of Baldwin's death in 1987, he left behind only 30 completed pages of this manuscript. Workshops   Learn how to make your own Photo-montage at Nafasi Art Space with ourChapChap Photomontage class on 24th March from 4:00-6:00 pm. Photo-montage is a currently popular alternative way of image making by cutting, gluing, rearranging and overlapping two or more photographs onto a piece of paper to create a single image. No cameras are required to participate but please come with an old magazine. To help support this class please drop off any Old or Unused Magazines that you have, or contact info@nafasiartspace.org so we can pick them up from you.    Have you ever wanted to make your own film? Well, here is your chance. Join theFREE Documentary Film Workshop brought to you by Bent Marble who have been offering free documentary filmmaking workshops that foster cross-cultural understanding and friendship, through empowering people to create their own digital stories with the resources they already possess, and share them with the world!
