Meneja Mawasiliano na Matukio wa Vodacom Tanzania, Christina Chacha (wa pili kushoto) akifurahia jambo na  mtoto Anna Rajabu anayelelewa na kupata matibabu  ya Saratani katika kituo cha Tumaini la Maisha katika hospitali ya Taifa Muhimbili, Wakati wafanyakazi wa Vodacom Tanzania walipowatembelea na  kuzindua mradi wa lishe bora kwa watoto hao wenye kusumbuliwa na maradhi hayo. Mtoto Jovin John (2) ambaye ni mgonjwa wa saratani  akishirikiana na Ofisa Mawasiliano wa Vodacom Tanzania, Glory Mtui  kujenga wakati wafanyakazi wa kampuni hiyo  walipowatembelea watoto wanaosumbuliwa na ugonjwa wa saratani na  kuzindua mradi wa lishe bora kwa watoto hao wanaotibiwa katika hospitali ya Taifa ya Muhimbili jijini Dar es Salaam. Ambapo  Taasisi ya Vodacom Foundation imetoa msaada wa kiasi cha shilingi milioni 26 kwa ajili ya kusaidia watoto hao kupata huduma za lishe bora katika kituo hicho.

Amos Joachim ambaye ni mmoja wa watoto wanaotibiwa ugonjwa wa saratani katika kituo cha Matumaini ya Maisha kilichopo katika Hospitali ya Taifa ya Muhimbili jijini Dar es Salaam (kulia) akicheza na mfanyakazi wa Vodacom Tanzania, Klemie Majamba (kushoto) wakati wafanyakazi wa kampuni hiyo  walipowatembelea watoto hao wanaosumbuliwa na ugonjwa huo na  kuzindua mradi wa lishe bora kwa watoto hao wanaotibiwa katika hospitali hiyo. Ambapo  Taasisi ya Vodacom Foundation imetoa msaada wa kiasi cha shilingi milioni 26 kwa ajili ya kusaidia watoto hao kupata huduma za lishe bora katika kituo hicho.

Mkuu wa Taasisi ya Vodacom Foundation, Renatus Rwehikiza akishirikiana kucheza michezo mbalimbali na watoto wanaopatiwa matibabu ya ugonjwa wa saratani katika Kituo  cha Tumani la Maisha  kilichopo katika Hospitali ya Taifa ya Muhimbili jijini Dar es Salaam, wakati wafanyakazi wa kampuni hiyo walipowatembelea watoto wanaosumbuliwa na ugonjwa huo na  kuzindua mradi wa lishe bora kwa watoto hao wanaotibiwa katika hospitali hiyo. Ambapo  Taasisi ya Vodacom Foundation imetoa msaada wa kiasi cha shilingi milioni 26 kwa ajili ya kusaidia watoto hao kupata huduma za lishe bora katika kituo hicho.

Watoto wenye maradhi ya saratani wanufaika na lishe bora
Watoto wanaosumbuliwa na maradhi ya saratani ambao wanaendelea na matibabu katika hospitali ya Taifa ya Muhimbili wamepatiwa msaada wa lishe ili kupunguza tatizo la kupata lishe duni ambalo limekuwa  tatizo sugu linalowaathiri watoto wengi nchini.
 
Ukosefu wa chakula bora chenye virutubishi vinavyotakiwa mwilini ni moja ya tatizo ambalo limekuwa likipelekea watoto wengi kunyemelewa na magonjwa mbalimbali kutokana na kupunguza kinga ya mwili na wale wenye magonjwa kuchelewa kupona kutokana na lishe duni.
 
Msaada huo wa lishe umetolewa mwishoni mwa wiki katika wodi ya watoto ya hospitali ya Taifa Muhimbili na Taasisi ya Vodacom Foundation kupitia Shirika lisilo la kiserikali linalojishughulisha na kuwahudumia watoto wenye maradhi ya Saratani linalojulikana kama Tumaini la Maisha.
Akiongea wakati wa kupokea msaada huo Mratibu wa mradi huo Dk.Jane Kaijage alishukuru msaada huo kutoka Vodacom Foundation kwa watoto utakaowafikia na kuwanufaisha  walengwa kupitia taasisi ya Tumaini la Maisha.
Alisema kuna idadi kubwa ya watoto zaidi ya 300 wanaolazwa hospitalini hapo wakiwa wanakabiliwa na saratani ya aina mbalimbali na kutokana na umri wao lishe bora ni muhimu kwao sambamba na matibabu wanayoendelea kuyapata ili wapone haraka.
 
Kwa upande wake Mkuu wa Vodacom Foundation,Renatus Rwehikiza alisema kuwa siku zote taasisi hiyo itakuwa mstari wa mbele  kuunga mkono jitihada za serikali katika kusaidia jamii hususani katika nyanja za  Afya na Elimu.
“Afya ni moja ya suala ambalo tunalipa kipaumbele na ndio maana tumekuwa tukivalia njuga kutokomeza magonjwa mbalimbali mojawapo ikiwa ugonjwa huu wa saratani ambao siku hadi siku umekuwa ukiongezeka na kusababisha vifo vya watu wengi”Alisema.
 
Alisema Vodacom Foundation imetoa kiasi cha shilingi milioni 26 kupitia taasisi ya Tumaini la Maisha ili kuwawezesha watoto hawa kupatiwa chakula bora na matunda kwa ajili ya kuwajengea afya bora hususani katika kipindi hiki kigumu wanachoendelea kupata matibabu na aliwataka wadau wengine kujitokeza kusaidia wenye matatizo mbalimbali kwenye jamii.
Mmoja wa wazazi ambaye mtoto wake anaendelea na  matibabu ya Saratani Jane Paulo kutoka mkoani Kigoma akiongea kwa niaba ya wenzake alishukuru Vodacom Fondation kwa msaada huu muhimu wa lishe kwa watoto wao katika kipindi hiki kigumu ambacho wanaendelea kupata matibabu.
 
Alisema kwa msaada huo taasisi hiyo imethibitisha usemi wa akufaaye kwa dhiki ndiye rafiki kwa kuwa umetolewa katuka muda mwafaka ambao watoto wanahitaji kupata lishe bora wakati huo wazazi wengi wakiwa wanakabiliwa na changamoto ya kutomudu kununua vyakula muhimu kutokana na kukabiliwa na ugumu wa maisha ambao unasababishwa na kutumia muda wao mwingi kuuguza watoto badala ya kujishughulisha na kazi za kuwaingizia vipato.

Children living with cancer get nutrition support

Children who are suffering from cancer who are undergoing treatment at Muhimbili National Hospital have been provided nutritional support from Vodacom Foundation to alleviate the problem of poor nutrition which has been a chronic problem affect many children in the country.

Foundation has provided a grant of Tshs 27 million to this program that will provide these little patients with adequate nutrition which implement through Tumaini La Maisha, a local Non Government Organization.
Speaking at an event at Muhimbili National Hospital to mark the offering of the grant, Tumaini la Maisha’s Project Manager,Dr.Jane Kaijage  revealed that so far the program expect to benefit more than 300 children each year for various type of Cancer admitted at the hospital .

“During cancer treatment, poor nutrition is a leading complication to healing.  Chemotherapy in itself leaves patients with weakened immune systems and difficulty tolerating much food.  Poor nutrition might also be a cause to the initial cancer, since a lack of essential vitamins and minerals can reduce immunity for the body to fight off cancer cells. Eating the right types of food before, during and after treatment can help the child feel better and stay stronger”

Dr.Kaijage said in order to improve the children’s health and progress in treatment, the children will be fed whole, plant-based foods often in the form of smoothies and juices that can be easily digested.

For his part, the Head of Vodacom Foundation, Mr. Renatus Rwehikiza noted that the Foundation’s grant of Tshs 27 million through the institution of Hope of Life in order to enable these children to be provided with good diet to them for building healthy, especially in this difficult period progresses to the treatment and urged other stakeholders to emerge to help with various problems in society

“Vodacom Foundation will always forefront to support government efforts in helping the community, especially in the fields of health and education and urged other stakeholders to emerge to help with various problems in society.

One of the parents whose child is undergoing treatment for cancer Regina Paulo from Kibondo in Kigoma region speaking on behalf of his colleagues thanked  Vodacom Foundation for  this important nutrition support for their children during this difficult time that they continue to get treatment.

Recent studies have shown that survival rates of children with cancer are significantly improved with a diet plentiful in fruits, vegetables and whole grains.  The nutrition program will improve digestive health, prevent malnutrition and provide dietary supplements in the hope of keeping the children strong, nourished and able to heal.  The Vodacom Foundation’s charity is playing a valuable role in keeping this program going
