The President’s
Manufacturer of the Year Awards winners 2015/16 have been finalized yesterday
in Dar es salaam during the prestigious awards ceremony which was presided by
the president of the United Republic of Tanzania HE John Pombe Magufuli.
The President’s Manufacturer of the year Awards
is an annual event that is organized by the Confederation of Tanzania
Industries (CTI) to award the outstanding manufacturers of the preceding year. The
Awards are given to companies in small, medium and large manufacturer
categories that exhibit a high degree of economic impact. Bank M Tanzania plc
is the main sponsor of this year’s event.
Speaking
after presenting the awards and certificates to the winners, the president who
is also a patron of CTI said that the countries which have done well in their
economy mostly are due to industrialization by giving example of countries like
China, India, south Korea etc. Mr. President assured those wish to invest in
Industries in the country that he will fully support them. He also congratulated
CTI for the initiative as well as Bank M for sponsoring the event.” If the industrial
sector is improving automatically other sectors will also improve hence tax
collection will go up”, said the president.
Speaking on behalf of Bank
M, the Deputy CEO Ms. Jacqueline Woiso expressed the Bank’s satisfaction to the
whole process, “we congratulate the president for your efforts to boost the
economy, we also congratulate CTI for this initiative, as well as the winners. PMAYA
plays a central role in the economic growth of Tanzania. By recognizing the
industrial sector contribution, we believe that they will be encouraged to do
even more. By so doing, such industries will prosper increase productivity as
well as its contribution to the social welfare of the people by creating more
employment opportunities and most importantly boosting our economy.”
Commenting on the event
success, the CTI Executive Director, Leodeger Tenga, said the companies
competing in this competition will enable the East Africans business community
to expand the market space, and make the region more competitive via larger
economies of scale. “Congratulations to all the winners”, Mr. Tenga said.
Tenga avowed by thanking
the president for accepting being the guest of honour despite of his busy
schedule and assured him that CTI will work hand in hand with the government in
altering the country’s industrial sector.

The event
revealed the 2015/16 winning companies being Tanzania
Breweries, other companies scooped the top most positions were Kioo Ltd and Alaf
Ltd. Others are Petrolube, Star Oil, Kilimanjaro Cables Tanzania, Alliance
Insurance Corporation, Alliance Life Assurance, East coast Oil, Bora
Industries, Hanspaul Automax, Nyanza Mines Tz, Tanpak Tissues, Shellys
Pharmaceuticals, Jambo plactics, 21st Century Industries and Jaffery
Industries Saini.
