RECAP
Did you miss our past events? Don't worry, we've got you covered!

"Sembene!" film screening
Kijiweni Cinema presented "Sembene!" a film and a celebration of the life of Ousmane Sembene, the "father of African cinema," a legend and a film genius, who spent decades shaping a meaningful, visionary cinema for a newly independent Africa. His works revisited history from African perspectives, called out corrupt leaders and celebrated what he called "the heroes of the everyday."
HABA NA HABA DANCE FESTIVAL with CHAP CHAP Body Painting
Our end of the month event for May was the Haba na Haba Dance festival presented by ASADEVA. Haba na Haba featured contemporary and traditional dance pieces from dancers and choreographers from Germany, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Congo. The two day festival was concluded by an afternoon public dance workshop where the public was invited to dance and paint with their bodies at the same time! We got dirty but we enjoyed!
