Tanzania hosts the 3rd
East Africa International Arbitration Conference
The 3rd East
Africa International Arbitration Conference (EAIAC) is taking place on the 9th
and 10th April 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Dar Es Salaam. EAIAC was
launched in 2013 by a committee of legal and business professionals to promote
East Africa Arbitration Centers and support development of the region’s legal
capacity.
The
conference doors will officially open at 8.30am on the 9th of April
2015
Tanzania is
increasingly gaining recognition as a leading natural resource player in the
Eastern African market, and the organizing committee considers Dar es Salaam as
a destination of choice for hosting EAIAC 2015. The conference will highlight
the importance of international arbitration as a tool for promoting foreign
investment in the region with a focus on Tanzania.
Some of the firms that have confirmed participation
include; Tanzania Private Sector Foundation, Tanganyika Law Society, Herbert
Smith LLP, ATZ Chambers, A&K, Hogan Lovells, DLA Piper, Clyde &CO,
Coulson Harney, Allen & Overy, Brick Court Chambers, Addleshaw Goddard
amongst others. Amongst the Countries represented include; Tanzania, Ethiopia,
Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Mauritius, United Kingdom, Singapore and
France.
The conference
has had tremendous support particularly from Tanganyika Law Society and
Tanzania Private Sector Foundation as well as regional Government support.
